Should Christians study astrology?
The Bible has a great deal to say about astrology and the stars. The basic conclusion to our understanding of the stars is that they were created by God.The stars certainly do show His majesty and his Power. According to Psalm 8:3:19:1, All the heavens are the handiwork of God.
The knowledge of astrology that we have today is the result of millenia of study and tracking. The zodiac was known to the ancient Greeks & Egyptians. Centuries before Christ, they used it to measure the seasons. There is a theory that the ancients considered the constellations a display of God’s redemptive plan. The Bible does not indicate any “hidden meaning” for the constellations.
The bible says the stars were arranged into the recognizable groups we call constellations, by God (Job 9:9; 26:13; 38:31-32; and Amos 5:8). It states that the stars, the sun, the moon, were given for “signs” and “seasons” (Genesis 1:14) … that they were meant to mark time. They are “signs” in the sense of navigational indicators and mankind has used the stars to chart courses around the globe, throughout history.
Our use of Astrology is about using the stars to keep track of time and place, and especially to acknowledge the Creator of the heavens.
