What About Houses? …
Similar to a clock, the zodiac is divided into 12 segments we call “houses.” As planets move through a house, they energize the traits related to the house and light up that part of your chart.
We can figure out which house your sun falls in if you have the time you were born. The houses are associated with specific areas of life. For example … careers, finances, love, relationships with family, etc. The houses indicate how each planet and its sign pans out for you.
THE FIRST HOUSE:
(Ruled by Aries) … We refer to the first house as the house of “SELF” because it affects your self-identity and your personality. It involves the way you appear to the world, or your external persona … the first impression you make on others.
THE SECOND HOUSE:
(Ruled by Taurus) … This house is related to smells, touch, taste, sights, sound, and all things related to the physical environment. This house also rules income, money, and your personal finances.
THE THIRD HOUSE:
(Ruled by Gemini) … The third house deals with all forms of communication — thinking and talking, for example. Also devices like cell phones and gadgets like pagers. This house covers community affairs, as well.
THE FOURTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Cancer) … Because the fourth house is at the very bottom of the zodiac wheel, it is called the “foundation” house. It is said that it rules the foundation of all things … like nurturing or or maternal abilities. It rules privacy, basic security, and your home.
THE FIFTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Leo) … We consider anything related to Leo to be dramatic. The fifth house is all about drama and self-expression. It is governed by creativity, attention, and romance. It won’t be a far stretch to include lots of fun and lots of play.
THE SIXTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Virgo) … This house is all about service and health. It rules many health issues … fitness, exercise, diet, and healthy living. The sixth house also rules service issues … helpfulness to others and just being of service to others.
THE SEVENTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Libra) … The seventh house rules other people and relationships, both personal and business. This house governs partnerships and relationship-connected matters … marriages, contracts, and especially business deals.
THE EIGHTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Scorpio) … This house rules mysterious things … transformation, sex, birth, death and mysteries. It also rules deep level bonding, other people’s properties as well as investments and inheritances.
THE NINTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Sagittarius) … The ninth house covers things like foreign languages, long-distance travel, and higher minds. It also rules broadcasting, publishing, philosophy and higher education. This house reflects morals and ethics and rules risk and adventure.
THE TENTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Capricorn) … This house is about structures, public image, corporations, fame, discipline, authority, and achievements. The tenth house is sometimes referred to as, “the House of Social Status” effecting the role we play in our community and in society as a whole.
THE ELEVENTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Aquarius) … The eleventh house rules electronic and media, networking, as well as friendships, groups, and teams. It rules eccentricity, surprises and sudden events. It also rules originality and things futuristic.
THE TWELFTH HOUSE:
(Ruled by Pisces) … completes the zodiac, it is the final house. This house ties up loose ends and is about the afterlife, completions, surrender, and old age. The twelfth house is associated with jails and hidden agendas. It rules the imagination and the subconscious mind.
